Clashes Continue between Kurds and Islamists in Syria

Girke Lege, Qamishli, Syriaــ On Friday early morning, new clashes took place between the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) and members of the al-Qaeda linked armed foces of Jabhat al-Nusra in Chel Agha/ al-Jawadiya area.

Meanwhile, sounds of explosions were heard and several columns of smoke were seen rising from the oil-rich villages of Kerhok, Ali Agha, Gire Fati, sources told ARA News.

On the other hand, sources confirmed the death of a number of Jabhat al-Nusra fighters in clashes with the YPG forces in the village of Tel Alo which is besieged by the YPG since more than a week ago. Tel Alo is knwon as a grain silos-rich village.

Violenece has considerably escalated recently between the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units and Islamist fighters of Jabhat al-Nusra backed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (ISIS).

As no efficient agreements were reached between them to end disputes, the clashes across the Kurdish region in Syria have left many casualties from both sides.
