Renewed violence in Daraa, south Syria

Daraa, Syria− Forces loyal to President Basha al-Assad targeted on Monday the city of Sheikh Miskin in Daraa suburbs with Shelka gun from Brigade (82) near the city, killing at least one civilian and wounding several others.  

Haitham Nassar, a media activist based in the city of Daraa, told ARA News that violent clashes erupted between the regime forces and opposition fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) near al-Zaffeh checkpoint in the city.

The clashes coincided with shelling of regime tanks ــstationed at the checkpointــ bombing the FSA-held areas in Daraa.

“Other clashes erupted between the regime forces and FSA fighters on the road linking the towns of Newa and Sheikh Miskin,” said Nassar. “The regime forces also shelled Gharaz area with heavy artillery and mortar causing the death of one of (FSA) fighters.”

Meanwhile, several residential neighbourhoods inside Daraa city were exposed to mortar fire from of the the headquarters of pro-Assad military forces in the Artillery Battalion (285) in the area of ​​Panorama. No casualties reported. 

Local sources told ARA News that the town of al-Hirak in Daraa suburb saw bombing with heavy artillery stationed in brigade (52), as a similar strike targeted the town of Atman from Artillery Battalion in Panorama, coincided with clashes in the vicinity of the town.
