Urfa, Turkey – Members of Syrian Kurdish parties gathered on Saturday in the southern Turkish city of Urfa to protest with the participation of Kurdish youth activists, civil society activists and Syrian and Turkish activists against the crimes of the Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) against Kurds in Syria.

The participants stated that they protest against the ISIL’s massacre in the Yezidi village of Tileliya in the countryside of Sere Kaniye on last Thursday, the forced displacement of Kurds in Tel Abyad city and the execution of Mohammed Mohammed by ISIL members in the countryside of Aleppo on May 25.

Speaking to ARA News, Berivan Chol Beg, one of the participants in Urfa’s anti-ISIL protest, said: “We started a revolution in Syria because we demanded freedom and dignity for the Syrian people, not because we wished that the ISIL takes possession of Syrian territories, force the Kurds to emigrate and cut off the heads of people.”

“We demand the immediate release of all the prisoners in the detention centers of the Syrian government and the ISIL group. It is clear to everybody that there is a coordination between the Syrian government and the ISIL. Those crimes have to come to an end,” Chol Beg said.

Hameed Bayram, a law student from Kobane city, told ARA News: “I joined the protest to condemn the execution of Mohammed Mohammed and the killing of innocent civilians, in addition to the forced displacement of the Kurds of Tel Abyad and the detention of Kurdish civilians in areas which fall under the ISIL control.”

“We demand the international community to put an end to the ISIL crimes against innocent civilians in Syria regardless of the ethnic or religious affiliations of the victims. The international community has to interfere to prevent militants of ISIL from committing more massacres,” Bayram said.

Al-Qaeda splinter group of ISIL attacked on last Thursday dawn the village of Tileliya in the countryside of Sere Kaniye and executed forty civilians, mostly children and women. The ISIL had also arrested hundreds of Kurdish civilians from the city of Raqqa and Kobane, among them a large number of middle school students who were on their way from Aleppo city to Kobane after doing their graduation exams.
