Renewed clashes between ISIL and Kurdish forces, north Syria

Urfa, Turkey – Militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group (ISIL) attacked on Sunday the Kurdish village of Kendal in the western countryside of Tel Abyad city in Raqqa province.

Al-Qaeda splinter group of ISIL engaged in clashes with the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) in Kendal, where dozens of casualties in the ranks of both sides were reported, local sources told ARA News.

A member of the YPG Media Center stated to ARA News that the ISIL group attacked the YPG-held Kurdish villages of Jalaba, Jamis and Kendal in Tel Abyad environs over the last two days, which caused clashes between both sides.

“Our forces (YPG) killed 10 ISIL fighters on Saturday, while many others were injured,” the source said. “The YPG seized several military vehicles from ISIL militants during the clashes.”
