Geneva, Switzerland – On Thursday, websites of several Western media outlets were reportedly hacked by the pro-Assad Syrian Electronic Army, sources reported.

Canadian, American and British media outlets were exposed to electronic attacks by a group of hackers known for their loyalty to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The hacked websites included the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the London-based Independent and the Daily Telegraph, as well as the New York Daily News.

“You’ve been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA)” was read by the visitors of the hacked websites. According to Reuters, the group posted on its Twitter feed, referring to Thursday’s U.S. Thanksgiving holiday: “Happy Thanksgiving, hope you didn’t miss us! The press: Please don’t pretend #ISIS are civilians. #SEA”
