Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) raided the village of Shalala in the eastern countryside of the city of Hasakah, in northeastern Syria, and arrested several young men, locals reported on Monday.
An eyewitness from the village of Shalala, who preferred anonymity, stated to ARA News that the IS militants broke into the village and arrested some of the youth.
“They (IS militants) executed one of the arrested young men, who was charged with killing Abu Qatada al-Tunisi, a leading security member in the radical group,” the eyewitness said.
The source pointed out that the young man, who was sentenced to death, killed Abu Qatada due to the latter’s burning of the oil tanker truck which was a source of livelihood to the victim in al-Hol area (40 km east of Hasakah).
On Friday, the IS militants executed four women in the town of al-Hol who had been abducted from the villages of Abu Qasayib and Abu Ghazal in the countryside of Qamishli (Qamishlo), on charges of supporting the People’s Protection Units (YPG), an activist in al-Hol told ARA News.
Morover, the civil rights activist Abdul Salam Saleh told ARA News in Hasakah that the IS-linked Sharia Court in the city of Shaddadi (the group’s stronghold in the southern countryside of Hasakah) sentenced a 20-year-old man to death on Friday “and beheaded him by a sword on charges of insulting the Divine”.
The man was reportedly beheaded in front of a crowd of residents, including children.
“The judiciary and the office of the Ombudsman decided if any person insulted Allah will be killed with the sword and his repentance won’t be accepted, and the executions will be conducted in front of the people to deter others from committing such a crime,” an announcement by the IS-led Sharia Court said.
Noteworthy, the Islamic State group took control of large areas of the eastern and southern suburbs of Hasakah, and has already carried out similar judgments in areas of its control such as in Tel Abyad (Gire Spi) in Raqqa province, in northern Syria.
