U.S. leads more strikes against militants in Syria and Iraq

Damascus, Syria – On Friday, the anti-IS Combined Joint Task Force announced that its fighter jets launched 39 airstrikes against strongholds of the Islamic State’s (IS/ISIS) militants in Syria and Iraq. 

“Fighters, bombers and remotely controlled aircraft struck 19 targets in Syria while 20 strikes were carried out in Iraq,” the U.S.-led Join Force said in a statement. 

The coalition struck several Iraqi locations held by IS extremists in Mosul, al-Qaim, Falluja, Kirkuk, Sinjar and Tel Afar.

Meanwhile, the U.S.-led airstrikes in Syria centered on the embattled border city of Kobane, where military units and armored vehicles of the IS radical group were targeted with 14 raids. 

The international coalition also targeted Syrian strongholds of the Islamists in Hasakah and Raqqa with three raids.
