Aleppo, Syria – On Tuesday, dozens of civilians were killed and others injured when the Syrian government’s air force dropped barrel bombs on the sub-district of Jamiyat Kahraba in the town of Khan al-Asal in the western countryside of Aleppo.
Local activists from Aleppo told ARA News that the regime air forces continues to target Aleppo’s suburbs with barrel bombs, including the Maysar and Jamiyat Kahraba districts near the town of Khan al-Asal in the western countryside of Aleppo, killing and wounding civilians.
ARA News could not verify the exact number of casualties.
This coincided with clashes between militant fighters of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) and the pro-regime forces in the vicinity of the Kwairis military airport in the countryside of Aleppo.
Military sources in the eastern countryside of Aleppo confirmed to ARA News that heavy clashes broke out between the pro-regime forces and IS jihadists in the vicinity of the Kwairis military airport, in conjunction with aerial bombardment on the area with rockets and barrel bombs in an attempt to prevent IS from advancing towards the airport.
“On Tuesday, a number of districts in Aleppo saw fierce clashes in several fronts, including Ramouseh and Amiriya, coupled with the advances of the armed opposition towards the Military Academy building in the Hamdanyia neighborhood after targeting it with several homemade rocket-propelled grenades, and achieving direct injuries to the ranks of the regime forces,” the sources reported.
Subsequent to several attempts by the pro-regime forces to control an opposition-held strategic hill in the area, fierce battles continued for the second day in the Bureij front near the industrial city in Sheikh Najjar district, causing the death of a number of the regime soldiers, local activists told ARA News.
