Qamishli, Syria – At least 65 militants of the Islamic State group (ISIS) were reported dead in airstrikes conducted by the U.S.-led coalition in the Iraqi provinces of Diyala and Anbar, officials said on Sunday.
The coalition’s warplanes bombed the group’s headquarters in Diyala’s provincial capital of Baqubah.
“Our sources confirmed the death of 22 ISIS terrorists in Mount Hamrin northeast Baqubah during an airstrike by the coalition on Sunday,” Iraqi police said in a statement.
Also on Sunday, the U.S.-led coalition conducted several strikes on ISIS strongholds in the Jiweba sub-district east of Ramadi city in Anbar province, killing 43 militants, security sources reported.
