Damascus, Syria – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad replaced two Cabinet ministers on Thursday, amid deteriorating living conditions for those who haven’t yet escaped the war-torn country.
Assad named Rima Qadiri to replace Kinda Shammat as minister of social affairs, while Jamal Chahine was appointed minister of internal trade and consumer protection, replacing Hassane Safieh.
The state media, which reported the news, hasn’t clarified the reasons for the replacements.
Since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in March 2011, more than 250,000 people have been killed and 11 million have been displaced.
